Aliscia Bekker

Aliscia was born in Steynsburg and matriculated at C & N Sekondȇre Meisieskool Oranje in 2004. She knew that she wanted to work in a hospital as a small girl. She remembers the impact the smell and atmosphere of the hospital made on her when she visited her mother in the hospital. After a hard day’s work, the same factors motivate her to return the next day to help make a difference in people’s lives.
She acquired her degree in Occupational Therapy in 2009 at the University of the Free State. In 2011 she obtained a post-graduate diploma in Hand Therapy. In 2015 she established her private practice, and in 2016 she completed a course in Functional Capacity Evaluations where she experienced the world of endless typing of reports. In 2018 she completed her Certified Lymph Drainage Therapy course, and finally in 2020 and 2021, she completed a 12-week course in Life Coaching. After nearly seven years later, this practice is blessed with extraordinary, colourful and precious therapists.
She met her husband in 2019, and they are the proud parents of a girl called Ilani Brink. She is very grateful for the support of her parents, family and husband. She stands in deep dependence on her Creator for the opportunity to make a difference in so many lives and to make the dream of a small girl a reality after many years.
Aliscia’s passion is working with ICU patients. Nothing gives her more joy than rehabilitating patients from a point where they can’t do anything for themselves up to where they are strong enough to be discharged from ICU.

Carmen Smith

Carmen Smith was born and raised in Bloemfontein. She acquired her degree in Occupational Therapy in 2017 at the University of the Free State. She is happily married and passionate about her family. Her family are the most important people in her life, along with her dearest colleague Aliscia.
Before deciding on her career, she always knew that she wanted to have a platform to help people. Two family friends of her parents suggested occupational therapy. She shadowed the occupation at no one other than her current partner Aliscia and the rest is history!
Her most significant interest in the field is physical rehabilitation. She loves to see how a patient can improve, from not holding his water bottle to roaming the hospital’s wards.
She has strong values and a lot of passion and energy, a lot of love and strong beliefs that God is the one directing each step in her life along with the stages of their practice. Without His endless grace, their practice would not have been successful today.
